Three Tributes for two guitars (2021)
Commissioned by Jim Parbury, these three pieces represent tributes to three of my music teachers and incorporate short musical references to their works:
1. Desmond’s Delight, a tribute to my school music teacher Desmond Swinburn, who introduced me to a wide range of choral and orchestral repertoire.
2. Harmonious Howells, a thank you to Herbert Howells who taught me at the RCM and who developed my general artistic tastes alongside my musical ones
3. Geoffrey’s Gallop, a memorial to Geoffrey E. Flowers, my first piano teacher, who opened my eyes and ears to the piano repertoire and the delights of composition.
