The Hen (2000)
SSAA unaccompanied
This short movement from A Bunyan Garland proceeds as follows:
‘The hen, as soon as she an egg doth lay,
Spreads the fame of her doing what she may.
About the yard she cackling now doth go
To tell what twas she on her nest did do.
Just thus it is with some professing men….’
It makes a bright and lively finale or encore – great fun for choir and audience! See A Bunyan Garland for publication details.
The movement is also available as a separate publication, The Snail and The Hen.
