speaker and piano          c.10 mins.

This entertaining setting of the eighteenth-century poet Thomas D’Urfey, the music of which alludes to various popular pieces of music of the time in the same way as D’Urfey satirises the courtly odes of Dryden, was commissioned by Ars Nova and first performed in the Purcell Room, London, 10 July 1976, by Jack Edwards (speaker) and David Elwin (piano)
