Lie still and slumber

Lie Still and Slumber (2023)
for SATB choir with organ or piano

Lie Still and Slumber is a setting of a cradle song by the eighteenth-century English writer and theologian Isaac Watts. The calm and gentle melody, though rhythmically irregular, achieves a feeling of peace and tranquillity as it gradually blossoms into a four-part texture.

It was first publicly performed by Vivamus, director Rufus Frowde, at St Clement Danes, The Strand, London, on 12 December 2024
