King Wenceslas – a dramatic scena

Loosely based on the traditional carol, King Wenceslas, this retelling of the tale of the page and monarch, travelling together through the windy and bitter weather on the day of the Feast of Stephen, uses soprano and recorders with dramatic humour and virtuosity.
First performed by Maria Jette (soprano) and John West (recorders) in the Guild Hall, Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis, on Boxing Day 2010.
