Four Sacred Songs (1990)
Choral suite for SATB (with divisions) unaccompanied. Duration 9 minutes
These four settings of poems by Thomas Campion were commissioned by the Essex Baroque Choir (conductor Simon Thompson): first London performance at St. James’ Piccadilly, 21 September 1990.
Intended chiefly for concert performance, this choral suite gives choirs the opportunity to present these beautiful sixteenth-century poems in a new way. The fourth movement,’Never-weather beaten sail’ is also suitable for church services.
