Colneford Suite

Colneford Suite (1983) for trombone and piano
Three short movements of approx. Grade 4 – 5 standard 5 mins.

Colneford Suite was written at Colneford Hill, on the edge of the small Essex town of Earls Colne. The first movement, Colneford Bridge, contrasts the noise of the busy road over the bridge with the gently flowing water beneath it. Not far from here is the tranquil Chalkney Mill, now disused, which stands on the edge of an ancient woodland. the bustle and gaiety of Bank Holiday Fete needs no further description!
